Vila Maslina - Location

Šilo is the largest village and the village with the longest tourist tradition in the Dobrinj Municipality on the island of Krk. It is a small, quiet seaside place with a long fishing tradition, only 20 km away from the Krk Bridge. It is picturesque situated in the very protected bay Stipanja, naturally enclosed by cape Punta Šilo. It lies in the immediate vicinity of Crikvenica and its Riviera, separated from it by the Channel of Vinodol. In the 1959. on the route Šilo-Crikvenica sailed the first ferry at our Adriatic coast. After the construction of the bridge instead of ferry boats on that line sail speedboats and smaller ships

The largest tourist attraction of Šilo are numerous, beautiful, sunny and naturally preserved pebble beaches with crystal clear blue sea. Specially well known is the sandy beach Pećine which has the Blue Flag and is ideal for small children.

In stormy weather in 1968. the Greek ship "Peltastis" sunk near the Šilo. Today, this is one of the most interesting diving destinations in Croatia. As a reminder at this tragedy, on the shore in Šilo there is an anchor which was removed from the ship’s wreck.

In Šilo, in its surroundings and along the whole island of Krk there are a lot of pedestrian and cycling trails. Numerous promenades and natural trails offer a possibility of recreational walk and enjoyment in nature and in fresh, sea air. Šilo also offers the possibility of many sports activities and recreation at sea. There it is a tennis court, a beach volleyball court, a football and basketball court, a bowling alley. In the sea you can play water polo, sail on the board, paddle, dive, enjoy other water sports or just relax with swimming.

Gastronomy fans can enjoy the specialties of the domestic and international cooking in several restaurants in Šilo. There it is also served the authentic white wine "Žlahtina".

During the summer months in all places of Dobrinj Municipality are organized cultural and entertaining programs such as performances of “Klapa”, choirs, folklore groups, art exhibitions, workshops and animations for children. There are also the fishermen's parties with music where you can dance on the seafront. On the day of Šilo, known as "Rokova" on August 16th, after all-day activities, the party finishes with great fireworks in late night hours.
